Many applications require the full screen display of a laptop AND the pocket sized portability of a PDA. The M920-CF delivers this, as it offers the equivalent of a desktop monitor in a low profile, compact form factor. The M920 is one of the smallest and lightest head-worn displays in the world, at only 3.5 oz . Utilizing a new high brightness no-flicker display, the M920 is easily readable in either daylight or darkness.

The display connects directly to any CompactFlash Type II or PCMCIA slot on Pocket PC based PDAs. Our software drivers for Pocket PCs, allow for full VGA screen information (640 x 480 pixels) to be displayed on the hands free M920 display.

The M920-Video model connects to virtually any video source, laptops, portable media players, video capable cell phones, test and measurement equipment, and video cameras to name a few. Its industry leading low power electronics drive the display for up to 5 hours on a pair of AA batteries.

Bioengineering a Mouse with Human Brain Cells

A Stanford University researcher has gotten a preliminary go-ahead to create a mouse with a significant number of human brain cells — as long as the creature behaves like a mouse, not a human.

A university ethics committee studied a provocative project that transplants human neurons into the brains of mice where, surprisingly, they settle in and feel right at home. The research team, led by Stanford biologist Irving Weissman, has no immediate plans to build a mouse with an entirely human brain. But it remains a theoretical possibility.

… Weissman says he doesn’t want to build a smarter mouse. Instead, he is creating a furry test tube to learn more about devastating human diseases such as brain cancer, stroke, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s and Lou Gehrig’s disease — impairments not easily studied in people.

LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling

LightScribe

With LightScribe Technology one can create laser etched CD or DVD labels on specially coated discs. LightScribe is currently licensed for HP and LaCie products.

Burn your tracks onto the data side of the disc. Flip the disc over to the label side and put it back in the drive. Burn your label by opening your favorite LightScribe-enabled label-making software and going to the CD template work area. Now you do all of your creative design work-imported pictures, copy, and artwork. When you are satisfied with what you have done, click “print.” It really is that simple! No ink, no messy markers, no clumpy adhesive labels . just an amazingly beautiful label right before your eyes.

… LightScribe-enabled CD/DVD disc drive contains a special laser that pumps light energy into a thin dye coating on the label side of the disc. The light from the laser causes a chemical change in the dye coating that shows up as a visible point on the disc. With laser precision, LightScribe delivers closely controlled light energy to multiple points on the disc as it spins in the drive. The result is a high-resolution reproduction of the artwork, text, or photos you composed in the software application.
